Academia Sinica, the “national academy of sciences” of Taiwan , has an 81-year history of
promoting and undertaking scholarly research in sciences and humanities. The Institute of European and American Studies, founded in 1974, is the home of a multidisciplinary team
of researchers studying the European and American societies. Current sociological expertise in the
Institute includes social stratification, sociology of education, culture and
social theory, economic sociology, sociology of organization, international
