本實驗室是一堅強的大數據分析跨領域實驗室，包含資訊、統計、與分生實驗三個部分。我們以生物的觀點，資訊人的思維，解決純生物的問題。成立於2003年10月，指導老師為Prof. 莊樹諄。

大數據分析是一門整合了資訊科學、統計學、與生命科學的跨領域研究。我們藉由設計演算法來分析新世代定序(NGS)資料，以資訊邏輯與數學運算將data轉換成information，配合統計分析或人工智慧技術篩選targets，之後輔以分生實驗驗證，並進一步實驗探討功能與機制，將information轉換成knowledge。本實驗室的研究方向主要在基因體(DNA level)和轉錄體(RNA level)跨物種間比較與演化等生物相關研究課題，特別有興趣於探討哺乳類(尤其是靈長類)動物間在後轉錄修飾如多樣性切割(Alternative Splicing包含trans-splicing、circular RNA、以及其他non-coding RNA)、RNA editing等的差異。在醫學應用方面，我們致力於找出影響神經發育或退化相關疾病因子，目前特別著重於autism spectrum disorders (ASD,自閉症)患者及其家庭成員的genome/transcriptome sequencing data分析。

我們的研究流程: data-->information-->experiment-->knowledge。
