+Title: Cycle classes and Chern classes in complex geometry
+Abstract:
There are two main constructions linking complex geometry and topology, namely Chern classes of holomorphic vector bundles and cycle classes of closed analytic subsets, first introduced by Borel and Haefliger. The relationships between the two constructions is subtle even in the algebraic geometry setting. I will discuss various comparison results, with emphasis on the Borel-Haefliger "smoothing problem", asking whether classes of closed analytic subsets and classes of closed complex submanifolds generate the same subgroup.
