Curriculum
Required Courses:

  1. Seminar
    (1 credit unit, a total of 6 semesters are required) *Not considered as graduation credits
  2. Student Presentation
    (1 credit unit, a total of 4 credit units are required; 4 semesters within the first 3 years)
  3. Lab Rotation
    (0 credit unit, a total of 2 semesters are required)
    • Working in a lab of the student's choice for one semester
    • This course can be taken more than once, but not with the same lab.
  4. TA
    (0 credit unit, a minimum of 1 semester is required, no need to register in school systems)
    *Students may have to take more than 1 term as a course TA.
  5. [AREE Online Course] Academic Research Ethics Education
    Each student that has taken this course must obtain at least a passing grade for the course’s test. The students that have not completed this course are not allowed to apply for their QE or Oral Defense.
  6. [TIGP Course] Academia Sinica Ethics Course
    Please refer to the email from the TIGP office.
  7. [TIGP Course] Chinese Language Class – Elementary Level (for foreign students)
    Each Foreign TIGP student is required to take TWO Chinese classes before graduate:
    Elementary Level One: Autumn Semester / Elementary Level Two: Spring Semester
    For TIGP Elementary Chinese Class Regulations, please refer to Elementary Chinese Class syllabi and the email from the TIGP office.

  1. B1: Basic Molecular Biology I (3 credit units)
  2. C1: Biological Computing (3 credit units)
  3. S1: Fundamental Statistical Methods in Bioinformatics (3 credit units) [Previously C2]
  4. P1: Programming Language - Python (2 credit units)

Core Courses II (Mandatory, 3 credit units each, Spring semesters only)
  1. B2: Basic Molecular Biology II
  2. C2: Advanced Algorithm [Previously C3]
  3. *S2: Advanced Statistical Methods in Bioinformatics [Previously C4]
    *If prerequisite course S1 is not passed, then S2 course cannot be taken.

Elective Course
Computational Biology (3 Credits, Offered at NTHU, Spring semesters only)
Any other courses approved by the BP Curriculum Committee.
